Filter Media

Various filter media types are available for various functions, media is usually used in vessels and empty cartridges for purification of water in one way or another.

Media types such as carbon granules are used for reducing chlorine and heavy metals, also improving odour and taste, other types such as silica sand is used for removal of high volumes of sediment, active alumina is used to extract fluorides and so on.

KDF
KDF-55 Kinetic Degradation Fluxion Media (KDF55)
Kinetic Degradation Fluxion (KDF) is a high-purity copper-zinc formulation that uses a basic chemical process known as redox (oxidation/reduction) to remove chlorine, lead, mercury, iron, and hydrogen sulfide from water supplies. The process also has a mild anti-bacterial, algaecitic, and fungicitic, effect and may reduce the accumulation of lime scale.

KDF process media is used in pre-treatment and primary treatment applications to supplement or replace existing technologies in order to extend system life and to reduce heavy metal contamination, chlorine and hydrogen sulfide (KDF85). It is often combined with other technologies to achieve superior overall results because of its effectiveness at higher water temperatures, it is often used on shower water filtration systems to remove chlorine and other contaminants.

The technology was developed by KDF Fluid Treatment, Inc. in the mid 1980s and was patented in 1987. KDF filter media meets EPA and Food and Drug Administration standards for levels of zinc and copper in potable water, and is certified by NSF International to its Standard 61 for drinking water.

GAC Media
Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) Media (GAC)

Our activated carbon is a very high grade carbon with a 8x30 mesh for maximum surface area while keeping a good flow rate and excellent absorption.

Made from a coconut shell or macadamia base (subject to stock with supplier) we do not sell coal based carbon.

  • Reduces Chlorine.
  • Reduces Heavy Metals.
  • Improves Odour & Taste.

Sold per KG.

High quality coconut-shell granular activated carbon media.
Clinobrite 25KG
Clinobrite Zeolite 25KG (CB-BAG)
Clinobrite is a natural zeolite and used as a direct substitute for outdated filter sand or glass in sediment filtration.
  • Removes 40-50% more physical dirt than old, outdated sand/glass systems.
  • Removes cysts of cryptosporidium.
  • Absorbs ammonia.
  • Absorbs and holds harmful heavy metals such as lead.
  • It can be regenerated and used over again.

Unlike ordinary filter sand, the surface of Clinobrite grains are not smooth. Clinobrite grains attract and trap extremely fine dirt particles and algae onto their surface and not just between the grains like ordinary sand. In practice, a Clinobrite filter can remove 40 - 50% more physical dirt than an outdated sand or glass filter. It can also filter out much smaller particle sizes than sand or glass. This greatly improves the clarity of your water and gives much longer service cycles between backwash operations. Clinobrite is even able to trap the tiny cysts of diarrhoea causing cryptosporidium which are becoming a health problem in municipal waters worldwide!

Also, unlike sand or glass filters, Clinobrite acts as a filter on the atomic scale by absorbing ammonium ions (NH4+) from water and this consequently eliminates algae. This is due to a powerful negative charge that exists within the Clinobrite structure that attracts positively charged cation contaminants such as ammonia and holds them within the Clinobrite structure.

Mixed Bed Ion Exchange Resin.

Used in deionization systems.

Deionized water, also known as demineralized water / DM water[2] (DI water, DIW or de-ionized water), is water that has had almost all of its mineral ions removed, such as cations like sodium, calcium, iron, and copper, and anions such as chloride and sulfate. Deionization is a chemical process that uses specially manufactured ion-exchange resins which exchange hydrogen ion and hydroxide ion for dissolved minerals, which then recombine to form water. Because most non-particulate, water impurities are dissolved salts, deionization produces a high purity water that is generally similar to distilled water, and this process is quick and without scale buildup.
