What are In-Line or Whole House Filters?
They are point-of-entry systems which are designed to purify water for an entire area or the whole property in-line with the main supply.
These systems reduce sediment, chlorine, heavy-metals and other contaminants. Additions are available to remove bacteria by in-line chlorination or UV sterilisation.
These systems are designed for use on municipal water supplies where the water is micro-biologically safe to drink and should not be used on untested borehole, dam or river supplies.
What are the gauges for?
The gauges are used to show the water pressure of the supply inlet and outlet of the filter system, the inlet will always be your municipal supply pressure, as your filters begin to block up, with flow your outlet gauge will show lower pressure than your inlet, this is how you know it is time to change the filters, if with flow your outlet and inlet and the same or vary slightly the filters do not need to be changed.
Gauges are optional and just for convenience.

Carbon absorption capacity will drop if you surpass recommended flow rate of 22 LPM (Litres per minute).

Media lifespan is approximately 3-5 years where adequate pre-filtration and regular backwashing is performed.
Pre and Post filters will have to be changed regularly. Frequency depends on usage and quality of water.

At the first stage, the raw water enters a 10 micron prefilter cartridge to remove any heavy sediment. Then, the raw water enters the distribution tube and travels through the distribution basket.

Dual Media - Point of Entry System features. Media is a combination KDF 55 with other medias and is unparalleled in Chlorine removal and heavy metal reduction. Consisting of a high purity copper-zinc formula, it's an NSF approved media that drastically extends the life of a carbon based filter. It is 100% recyclable and has no chemical additives.
KDF 55 Media is used in chlorine removal applications in conjunction with granular activated carbon. KDF 55 strips the chlorine from the water before the water contacts the carbon. The carbon, not being burdened with the job of chlorine removal is then free to perform higher level carbon filtration. Such as removal of chemical contaminants including Volatile Organic Chemical (VOC's) and Trihalomethanes (THM's). Using KDF media in conjunction with granular activated carbon extends the life of the media bed significantly over using carbon alone. That means longer service runs before replacement of the media is required.

The vessel includes a manual backwash valve head (not shown in image). Depending on volumes used monthly or weekly backwashing is recommended.
Maximum water pressure of the vessel is 6 BARS therefore we recommend a maximum of 4 BARS water pressure, if your pressure exceeds this you must install a pressure reducing valve to keep the pressure under the maximum. If pressure exceeds the maximum it may lead to rupturing of the vessel in which case warranty will be void.
